Carnegie Mellon University, School of Drama invites you to apply for the new position of Media Supervisor. CMU Drama teaches all disciplines of performance and production in a professional conservatory style training program. People from underrepresented groups are urged to apply. Position is responsible for supervising A/V equipment and use in classroom, and facility contexts. Classes supported are from all disciplines. They explore using media for storytelling and utilize media for presentation.

Your primary duties would include

  • Classroom support: Assist faculty in ensuring that equipment required for their classrooms is in working order. Directly support several specific courses.
  • Training: Train and support Faculty, Staff and Students on the use of installed and portable A/V equipment for classroom and event purposes.
  • Equipment oversight: Repair and maintain all media equipment for classroom, presentation and archival purposes. Identify, advocate for, procure, and deploy improvements. Lead management of this inventory. Assist in maintenance of media related spaces.
  • Budget management: Coordinate with production manager and business manager to oversee overhead and capital budgets, and the associated expenses.
  • Maintain archives: Coordinate shooting, authoring and distribution of video archives.
  • Event Support: Provide direct A/V support for school events.
  • Supervision of workers: Supervise assigned applied intern and work study media support for the above.

You should possess: 3 years of professional practice in video/media live event support and design; familiarity with media content creation and playback software as well as hardware equipment and solutions. A bachelor’s degree in video/media or theatre and prior education experience are preferred.
